Living in Bali, (the tropics, in fact

anywhere) best to keep to a simple daily skin regime so that it all doesn’t become a bore! Mind you, there are many that enjoy the ritu- al of slathering & pampering, if one has the time………

Every morning take a light shower

fi nishing off with cold water, (not

too much soap, it’s often too drying for skin) use a scrub often (or have a treatment) best way to keep skin smooth & blemish free (meaning, don’t give time for those skin ‘tags’ to adhere to one’s body skin as you

age!). Rinse & refresh your facial skin with a toner or spritz, apply a

light eye cream & a skin tinted mois- turizer with inbuilt sun protection.

Do try eyelash & brow tinting, this

treatment can make a huge difference to one of the best features of your face, then you can forget eye pencils/ mascara for during the day, just apply your fave lipstick. At night, make up as usual. Hair, if long, pull back into a ‘tail’, or try a French pleat looks great (night or day) or comb back & wear a hair band, plenty of choice from simple to fabulous! Perfume, wear little! use an eau de cologne, spray in a spot that ‘won’t see the sun’ as the sun isn’t kind to most skin that is drenched with fragrance in the tropics (resulting in a skin rash or allergy).

Some readers have asked about Deodorant, what is the best to use, many don’t work (too light). Try a Natural Crystal, try the health shops here & are particu- larly good for sensitive skin. Otherwise, get a friend to bring one in from overseas. There are lots of mosquitoes about, I fi nd if you apply some pure Citronella Oil around ankles & inside wrists.

Spoiled Hairdressers great for – good haircuts/ trims, color & highlights, they also do eyelash/brow tinting, & of course pedicures/mani-

cures. Remember, Red is In for nails, particularly toes, natural for fi nger tips.

And so, about ‘going grey’ (and it’s not only ‘those of a certain age’, but plenty of younger people too, depends on those genes!) and am directing these comments to the guys as well. Spoiled Hairdressers (with fi ngers on the pulse for new trends) have noted that models working the overseas catwalks have had ‘grey streaks’ applied to their hair. Actually, I saw ‘this look’ myself on Fashion TV recently & thought this is perhaps the ideal way to treat hair that is starting to go grey at the temples.

The method is quite simple, fi ne strands of your own hair (that is grey at the roots) is taken from the front of the head, a bleach applied (to take the color right out of your own natural hair) & then when the hair is ready, a toner is applied to the same fi ne strands, which when dry, will give an overall appearance, of a fresh & natural lookwith soft ash tones throughout.

This is perhaps the most effective & natural looking way of dealing with grey hair coming through, however, many ladies will continue to color their entire head of hair or stay blonde forever! The bleach, toner process & lifting the fi ne strands out can take a couple of hours, this is what it usually takes to have highlights done.

But it’s defi nitely worth it, (this process is initially done to the front of the hairline & it takes time, making sure that the required fi ne strands have been

‘picked out’ for the treatment). Of course with a complete head of grey roots, you may be tempted to color all over, otherwise the above treatment is an option or just go grey as nature intended. Whatever way you want to approach ‘going grey’ it’s really is up to you!

friend of mine who visits Bali on a regular basis has this treatment done every time she visits & it does make a difference, especially for short &/or straight eyelashes.

Glo Day Spa – for all beauty treatments that are wonderful, performed in luxe surrounds. Did you know & have you tried, Eyelash Perming? Well, a

Remember, you can’t mix eyelash tinting with lash perming at the same

appointment, give a week apart at least between each treatment.

So, fi rstly you will need about one & a half hours, my friend tells me that it’s relaxing, so, if no time, wait until you feel the need to unwind & then have this treatment done! The perming must be performed by a well trained operator (Glo, of course) and if performed correctly you will have nicely curled lashes for about four weeks (until your lashes are replaced by natural attrition)

An experienced operator will wind your lashes onto a mini rod (ensuring that all fi ne lashes have been wound onto the rod, then a solution is applied) &

now this is the time when you can lie back & relax. After the required time, the operator will rinse the solution off, but just ask for a wet cotton ball or bud, &

wipe away any residue yourself. Now, look into the mirror, your eyes will ‘look

wide open’, your lashes will curl more than usual, such a pretty & youthful look!
