Birkmyre Rugby Club AGM and Dinner
Birkmyre Rugby Club held their annual AGM and Dinner in the River
Inn in Crosslea on Friday 8th May. Jason Andrews, the proprietor and
the clubs main sponsor, yet again laid on an excellent fare for the 90
attendees.
An added attraction on the evening
was the presence of two former,
and highly respected Scotland
and British lions rugby legends,
Ian “Mighty Mouse” McLauchan
and Sandy Carmichael. Both

In addition to Willie moving into the Presidents seat other significant
appointments on the evening were as follows. David Armour has now
taken over the roll as captain of the club and he will be ably assisted
by Ian Ferguson. The club finished a very creditable third in their
league last year, and with most of the squad returning next year, it is
hoped that a higher placing can be achieved, with promotion to the
league above as the objective. New players are always welcome, and
if you want any further information please contact Peter Haveron on

Joining the senior club at their end of season event were several
representatives of Birkmyre’s mini section who continue to meet on
a Sunday afternoon.
The club have now wound down until August but
touch rugby is played at the park every Tuesday
night at 7.30. Everyone is welcome to come along
to this regular evening event, and non and new
members are particularly welcome.
