This month we will have the first by-election for
the Council in quite a few years following the death
of Councillor Ken Ferguson after a long-illness. A
couple of days before Ken’s death I was shocked
and saddened to hear of the sudden death of former
Councillor Margaret Morrison who had lived in
Kilmacolm for a number of years. Margaret, who was
a friend and colleague for nearly 26 years, was a first
class Councillor who worked very hard on behalf of
the local community. She will be greatly missed.
I am still working with officers to re-establish the
putting green in Birkmyre Park. I am hopeful that this will happen in
time for the school summer holidays.
My surgeries are: 9 June at Boglestone Community Centre (6-7pm)

provided by the Council to £30,000. This additional funding should
ensure that the children of Quarrier’s will soon be enjoying new modern
play facilities just like their neighbours in Kilmacolm. The ongoing
maintenance will be the responsibility of the group and Quarriers
itself. Meanwhile, in Kilmacolm, given the recent investment at
Birkmyre Park and Quarriers, there are no plans for upgrades to West
Glen Park; work for this year will be limited to routine maintenance.
