Nursery children all Fired Up!
The children had a marvellous time when Abbey
Nursery arranged with the
local fi re brigade to visit
the nursery and for the
children to learn about
the work of a fi re fi ghter as
part of their monthly topic
‘People Who Help Us’.
The children were told

St Fillan’s Primary School,
The school held an Eco Day of Action, pupils were asked to come to
school out of uniform, but wearing something green. Pupils were also
asked to bring along something which can be recycled, eg: stamps,
old/unused mobiles or ink cartridges.
During the day their was a number of activities led by school staff in
relation to the eco school code, litter management, physical activity,
energy saving and much more. Several expert visitors also worked with
the children which included a Road Safety Offi cer; nutritionist on health
& wellbeing; Startling Learning led a mini-beast hunt and a volunteer
from SCIAF did a presentation to the classes on climate change in third
world countries.
Primary 5 purchased
Bird Feeders for the
school with money
they had fundraised.
Primary 3 enjoyed a
day in the sunshine
at Calderglen Park
in East Kilbride.
We couldn’t have
asked for better
weather and the
children ate lunch
outside at the
picnic tables.
The children
visited the
Zoo where
they saw
g o a t s ,
s n a k e s ,
guinea pigs
and owls. The

play area was
a favourite
w i t h
s c r a m b l e
nets, chutes
and climbing
frames.
