Kilmacolm Scouts, 42nd Greenock and District
Work has now started on repairing the fl ood damage in our hall. All the
ceiling has been replaced and the light fi tting are due to be installed. This
will free up the hall and we can restore all the Scouting equipment back
to their storage spaces.
Our Scout numbers have increased due to the Cubs moving up and other
new members and have a Troop of 15 boys now. This gives us just enough for 3 Patrols, now
called Stags, Eagles and Panthers. We still have space for some more boys. Please do get in
contact if you know anyone who would like to attend.
Two of our Scouts< Keir Brown and Ryan MacDonald (pictured) took part in a district
orienteering event recently. This was the fi rst time they had tried orienteering before and did
really well, beating many other competitors. A badge well earned. Soon we are off camping
for a weekend full of exciting outdoor activities at the Greenock district Itchy Midge Camp.
1st Kilmacolm Brownies Wigwam Sleepover
1st Kilmacolm Brownies headed up to the Wigwams at Barnbrock Farm for a Sleep-Out-Over
one Saturday night in Mid May.
After a muddy walk in Locherwood, we had a birthday brownie so cake was passed round!
Luckily the weather was good to us, with just a few showers, so managed to do outdoor
activities with a Lego treasure hunt and toasting marshmallows on the camp fi re after a BBQ
tea. Over hot chocolate, the girls made up their own bedtime story and imaginations ran riot.
Finally they all fell asleep in their own wigwams ...what a brave bunch!
On Sunday it took tired brownies a while to pack up their belongings and then as a challenge
they all leapt into the river to collect and carry as much water as possible back up to
buckets.....the careful tortoises won as opposed to the speedy hares!
We all had a great time and everyone is very keen to go back, the facilities are great, with

an indoor block and kitchen available for groups.
Special thanks to our new adult recruits Emma Bell and Graham Robertson for all their support
