It is not all bad news. There have been some victories and political milestones. The Obama administration continues its efforts to push through the difficulties and some of the issues it has managed to address and put into action include the Stimulus Bill, the Health Care Bill, the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, and a repeal of “Don't Ask, Don't Tell.”Also, passed are Credit Card Reform, new Consumer Protections, Hate Crime Legislation and a Clean Energy Bill. President Obama announced military draw downs in Iraq and Afghanistan. In addition, the START Russia Arms Treaty was signed earlier in his administration, reducing nuclear stockpiles by a third. An International agreement was also signed to lockdown loose nukes and keep them out of the hands of terrorists. And of course the whole country was brought together for a moment the day Osama bin Laden was finally located and killed and also at the memorial for the victims of the Arizona Massacre, where the President made a stirring and inspirational tribute emphasizing unity. President Obama continues to keep in touch with the American people on a daily basis through press conferences, online web addresses and town hall meetings. The White House website is updated daily and offers citizens access and informa- tion to numerous issues of concern. President Obama presents his policy on Afghanistan and Pakistan with Secretary of State Hilary Clinton and Secretary of Defense Robert Gates…In consultation with his cabinet and the Pentagon, President Obama decides we should refocus our efforts on fighting the war on Terror in that region and gradually shift away from the war in Iraq.
