In the forthcoming video for her new

song “Superwoman,” Alicia Keys will be heroic. But not in the way you think. No red cape, no flying, no superpowers. In this video the beautiful and talented singer-songwriter will be paying homage to all of womankind, in her own powerful and unique way. “The video is representing all kinds

of superwomen and the exciting part is, not only am I able to be myself in the video, but I’m able to play all of these other women as well, Keys told MTV News. “One example is a young mother who is struggling and trying to make ends meet but also has bigger dreams for her- self. She wants to go to school…She’s a superwoman because it’s hard to do all of those things.” Alicia will also play a Somali woman, crossing miles of scorched earth to get fresh drinking water for her family, and several other roles including a businesswoman, and a female pharaoh.

“I love the diversity of it all and how it says, 'No matter who we are or what we're going through, we all are super- women,' " she explained. “It's one of my favorite songs off of the album, and it's just very inspirational, because I wrote it

Even when you're not perfect, and you're kind of out of it, and you're off, and you're feeling like a mess, you're still a superwoman.

when I really needed to hear some words that said to me that, even when you're not perfect, and you're kind of out of it, and you're off, and you're feeling like a mess, you're still a superwoman. The song, every time I sing it, makes me feel inspired to be however I am that day." Alicia the superwoman may have her bad moments, just like the rest of us, but this multi-talented singer, songwriter, musician, actress and activist is flying high and on top of the world with her international success. The eleven-time Grammy Award winner was able to soar even higher with the release of her long-

awaited third studio album, “As I Am,” in November 2007. Within ten hours of being released to radio, Alicia’s first sin- gle, “No One,” became one of the fastest moving and highest charting singles on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. “As I Am” soon became her fourth consecutive number one album on the Billboard 200! Her song, “No One” also helped her win two Grammys in February 2008. With continued critical acclaim, phenomenal record sales and a successful US tour which just wrapped up at Madison Square Garden there’s no telling what high notes are next for Alicia Keys.
