many artists find their second effort diffi- cult, and many succumb to a sophomore slump. Not Alicia Keys. The Diary of Alicia Keys released in December of 2003, was hailed by critics, debuted at number one and became the sixth biggest selling album ever by a female artist and the second biggest for a female R&B artist. Her next album, part of the MTV Unplugged series featured live perform- ances of new arrangements, covers, guest performers and several new songs. Unplugged also debuted at number one on the and later received four nomina- tions at the 2006 Grammy Awards. Her latest disc “As I Am” followed the suc- cessful pattern and gave her the largest sales week of her career and the single “No One” earned her two Grammys this year for" Best Female R&B Vocal Performance" and "Best R&B Song." Alicia is currently working on mate- rial for her next album and developing film projects. She has made small cameos in several TV shows including “Charmed,” “Cane” and “American Dreams.” She recently starred in "Fresh Takes" an MTV micro-series aimed at women created by the advertiser Dove Go


Fresh. In early 2007, Alicia made her big-screen debut in the crime film Smokin' Aces. She played an assassin named Georgia Sykes and co-starred opposite Ben Affleck, Ray Liotta, Common, Andy Garcia, Taraji P.
