Structures The HO-scale loading dock was scratchbuilt by Michael Johnston using Northeastern wood; it was inspired by an RMC article in the 1950s. Produce is shipped from here on his layout. For the MoW shed, he modi- fied a Scale Structures Limited kit.

make model railroading more en- joyable, things that should be part of it? I think so. So, the next question is, “Now

what should we do?” The answer is simple — and rewarding. There are “prototype modelers” meets in many places throughout the year. They are very accessible. Take a look at the RMC Timetable in each

issue and also check the website www.railroadprototypemodelers. com on a regular basis to find a meet you can get to. Choose some models you think others would enjoy seeing and bring them along. Make up a small card or information sheet telling what you have done, maybe include a pro- totype photo, and go.

Finally, if you are involved with

the planning of a prototype mod- elers meet, be sure to send an an- nouncement to RMC Timetable and also to the above RPM web- site so the rest of us will know about it.

Trucks Montford Switzer’s coal delivery truck began with a Mini-Metals 1946 Chevy dump truck. It got a new bed from a GHQ grain wagon, and then the now-surplus dump body was grafted onto a Mini-Metals R-190 trac- tor. The high-capacity truck has an Athearn dump body on a Mack chassis.

Union 4326 Jack Consoli removed the sides and end stakes from an Athearn 33-foot hopper and replaced them with resin castings made from a CAD-gener- ated 3D master printed by Shapeways for this hopper. Wire grabs, new brakes, and other details were added.
