he 25th anniversary of the Hong Kong Tourism Board's Contact and Contract event took place in March, bringing a record number of sellers to London. There were 36 hotels and, for the fi rst time, nine non-hotel exhibitors, that included attractions and ancillaries all ready to meet the UK trade. Laura Gelder met with Peter Hoslin, HKTB's Regional Director, Europe and New Markets.


Q: How is the UK market performing for Hong Kong? A: It's a very pleasing story, with almost 1.4% growth (521,000 visitors) in the past year. We

continued to focus investment and keep up our presence in the UK market throughout diffi cult fi nancial times, so now that the UK economy is starting to raise its head we are showing early growth. Room nights have stayed static, at 4.9 for the UK, but this is very high considering we are a stopover destination. We put it down to our

large number of repeat visitors. Satisfaction ratings from UK visitors are at an excellent 8.7 out of 10! Q: What activity do you have planned for 2015?


A: We want to make sure that the trade are poised and ready to upsell so we will be out and about as much as possible this year, with the help of our new trade manager, Stéphane Haubois. Later this year we will be refreshing our Hong Kong Specialist training programme. This helps

agents to really nail those product points which will help them sell more. It will be even more interactive, with easy-to-read key selling tips users can take away, and we plan to run a few seminars based around it. Q: How can the trade learn more about Hong Kong? A: Last year we refreshed our trade website, partnernet.hktb.com, with even more relevant information. Not just a portal for statistics and press releases, it also provides insights into
