NOBLE INNS TO OPEN SMOKEHOUSE CHISWICK Pub and restaurant firm Noble Inns is to open a second Smokehouse restaurant, this time in Chiswick. Smokehouse Chiswick will


open on 6 April on Sutton Lane North, with executive chef Neil Rankin creating the menu. It will be the fifth site from


Noble Inns, which also runs the Smokehouse in Islington, the Pig & Butcher, also in Islington, the Princess of Shoreditch and Bad Egg in Moorgate.


BRUNO LOUBET TO REPLACE BISTROT WITH GRAIN STORE UNLEASHED POP-UP

Chef Bruno Loubet is to replace his Zetter restaurant Bistrot Bruno Loubet with a pop-up venture


called Grain Store Unleashed. Grain Store Unleashed, which


is expected to open on 13 April and will run for a limited time, has been inspired by Loubet’s King’s Cross restaurant Grain Store, which champions vegetables and international flavours. Bistrot Bruno Loubet has


occupied the space in the Clerkenwell hotel for the past five years and the decision to re-launch with a new concept is in response to the chef’s move away from the bistro style he became known for. It will close on 6 April. The hotel will open a new as-yet undisclosed venture in the space.


OVER 100 RESTAURATEURS SIGN ALLERGEN PROTEST LETTER More than 100 restaurateurs, hoteliers and catering professionals have signed an open letter protesting at the “bureaucratic nightmare” of new EU regulations on allergens. The changes are estimated


to be costing the industry £200m a year and chefs criticised them for “reducing spontaneity, creativity and innovation” in a letter to the Mail on Sunday.

Ed’s Easy Diner is to open six new restaurants this spring as it doubles the size of its estate in Scotland. The retro 1950s-style restaurant


group will open in Inverness and Aberdeen in April and May respectively, taking the number of sites the group has in Scotland to four. It also has launches planned


for Blackburn, Islington, Cambridge and Luton – all of them located in high-footfall shopping centres.


UK FOODSERVICE SECTOR PREDICTED TO GROW TO £56.3b BY 2019 The UK foodservice sector – including caterers, restaurants, gastropubs and food delivery companies – will be worth £56.3b by 2019, according to data and insights consultancy Horizons. This will mark a growth of


over £10b for the sector, Horizons managing director Peter Backman announced at the company’s annual briefing on 10 March.


FLOTATION VALUES REVOLUTION BARS AT £100m Revolution Bars Group has set out its plans to float the company on the London Stock Exchange with a value of £100m. The company hopes that the


move will help it fund a roll-out from 53 bars to more than 100. In an announcement, it said that it had set the offer price per share at 200p, ahead of its initial public offering on 18 March. The offer will


comprise 42,984,234 Signatories to the letter,


organised by campaign group Business For Britain, included Prue Leith, Albert Roux and Luke Johnson.

SCOTT DAVIES IS HEAD CHEF AT ISLE OF SKYE’S THREE CHIMNEYS Scott Davies has been appointed as the new head chef of the Michelin-starred Three Chimneys restaurant on the Isle of Skye. The move follows the


resignation of both chef- director Michael Smith and head chef Kevin McLean. Davies (pictured), a finalist in BBC’s MasterChef: The Professionals in 2013, most recently launched the Adamson restaurant in St Andrews. He trained with Adam Stokes at Glenapp Castle. Smith said: “It has not been an easy decision to make in any way, having spent over the last 10 years maintaining and enhancing the fantastic reputation of this amazing restaurant.” Smith gained a Michelin


star for the restaurant last year and also appeared on BBC TV show Great British Menu. The Three Chimneys


owners Eddie and Shirley Spear said it was the start of a new chapter for their restaurant with rooms, which has only appointed a new head chef three times in 30 years.

LOUNGERS OPENS TWO NEW SITES Bristol-based all-day café/bar operator Loungers has opened its 58th and 59th sites in Southampton and Bishop’s Stortford respectively. Maritimo Lounge, in the Admirals


Quay development in Ocean Village in Southampton, is the group’s third Southampton site. Bishop’s Stortford in


Hertfordshire has seen the opening of Cambio Lounge in a unit formerly occupied by Belgique.


Mexican street food-style group Wahaca is to open a new site in central London, near Liverpool Street station. Spread across two floors, the


new venue will cover 4,200 sq ft and sit within a current office building and former Thai restaurant Sri Thong. It will be the group’s 17th site.
