TOP TIP 10
Optishift option has been extended to the L110G & L120G models
Optishift transmission is comprised of automatic counter shaft transmission, lockup torque converter and the Volvo patented reverse-by-braking (RBB) technology. The lockup in the torque converter engages whenever there is lower demand for torque multiplication, which locks the impeller and turbine side of the converter creating a rigid coupling for increased efficiency in torque transmission.
The RBB is a function which uses the service breaks during directional change, without the operator touching the brake pedals. It is an electronically controlled system which helps to reduce the load put through the Transmission during these directional changes.
Customer benefit ● The lockup torque converter provides significant fuel savings especially in operations such as load and carry, and uphill applications.
● The RBB increases operator comfort and reduces stress in transmission components therefore effecting a longer component life and increased reliability.
In addition to this, ● RBB helps in maintaining fairly constant engine rpm which improves fuel efficiency.
