In addition to a full set of buckets, and those attachments already carried over from the EC55B, his line-up of front-end tools is impressive to say the least. He has recently added a grab, tree shear, pallet forks, land rake, stump raptor and flail mower. And his investment in attachments won’t stop there.

“If I can see an opportunity for an attachment to make my life easier and provide a solution for a customer, then I will buy it,” he says.

But the quest for a perfect excavator combination didn’t stop with a tilt rotator and a few attachments. Much has been done to make the ECR a more grounded, bespoke package.

package, Mr Gowans got in touch with specialist equipment firm Exc@v8, to see his ECR undergo significant conversion.

“I knew I wanted to get much more productivity and versatility from my machine, and it had to start with a tilt rotator,” he says. This included the fitting of new joysticks and a control unit for the Indexator.

The ECR’s 400mm wide standard-fit rubber tracks have been replaced by 550mm steel tracks, and these have been accompanied with a change of idlers and the inclusion of track guards. Having an extra 300mm of track width on the ground has given a huge boost to stability in addition to greater durability and robustness, particularly for landscaping contracts.
