Hello and welcome to edition 23 of THE VOICE magazine – the voice of Volvo Construction Equipment in Great Britain.


VIBES


In the last edition of the VOICE I commented ‘that the economy continues to show encouraging signs and the construction sector is becoming more and more upbeat’. From the attendance we saw at Scot Plant back in April and Hillhead in June together with the unprecedented level of business we conducted at both events then this was justifiably — an understatement! And, the momentum continues to grow as we move into the autumn buying period with a high demand for all products across most sectors proving that our industry is moving in a steady, consistent and positive manner.


Supporting our customers with comprehensive after sales support has always been part of our ethos here at Volvo Construction Equipment and we invest heavily on an annual engineer apprentice intake, as well as a rigorous on-going training regime for our mobile and workshop engineers to make this happen. We were delighted, therefore, to learn that a team from our Warrington support centre had battled through stiff competition to win the international accolade of Volvo Global Masters 2014. Congratulations go to Matthew Needham, Billy Heywood and Chris Walker and you can read more about this on pages 44–45


Our larger Stage IV final models have begun making a positive impact with our customers and we will continue to roll out the mid to smaller sized units as we move into the first half of 2015. Some initial reports and customer reactions to our new products can be found in this copy of the VOICE.


Finally we report back on the finals for the European Operators Club competition that took place over the 2nd – 4th October, coinciding with the start of the 2014-2015 Volvo Ocean Race.
