The Register of Spa Professionals, the new professional initiative that addresses consumers’ safety concerns by listing only the qualified professionals whomeet the independently developed criteria, has gained the backing of the UK SpaAssociation (SPA-UK).


Withmore than 35million Britons spending £5.2bn annually on services and treatments at the Spa, expectation that the luxurious treatments are provided by knowledgeable, qualified staff has become an essential part of that relaxing experience.


SPA-UK will be represented by itsmembers on the RegisterAdvisory Committee to ensure that the initiative develops with the needs of employers being retained as its core concern. “In representing the interests of ourmembers,The UK SpaAssociation (SPA-UK) is fully committed to supporting Habia and SkillsActive with the introduction of a professional register for Spa Professionals,” commended theAssociation. “We see the Register as a platformfor both recognising and reinforcing the professional standards that ourmembers are so passionate about, whilst also delivering tangible benefits in recruitment and training.


Spa celebrates hat trick


The Spa at Chewton Glen ended last year on a high by scooping an impressive array of awards fromsome of the UK’s leading publications.


The Independent named the Hampshire location as third 'Best British Spa 2013' and readers of TheTimes, The SundayTimes and The SundayTimesTravelMagazine voted Chewton Glen the runner-up in their 2013 award for the ‘UK's Favourite Hotel’. In addition, the venue also received 'The Best Hotel for Romance' award at the recent Condé Nast Johansens 2014Annual UK&EuropeanAwards for Excellence

Spas across the UK have been celebrating after the announcement of the recent SPATravellerAwards 2013.


Lifehouse Spa&Hotel scooped two prestigious awards for ‘Most Effective Corporate Burnout Programme’ and ‘Best UK Spa for SoloTravellers’, as voted for by the publication’s readers.


Last year, the North Essex retreat launched their bespoke corporate wellbeing offerings. Understanding the link between healthy energised staff and their engagement and performance, the venue created tailored programmes to suit each individual company’s needs focussing on techniques, dietary and lifestyle tips.Visitors to the Spa can also enjoy an array of ESPA and Decléor treatments, plus take advantage of the facilities on offer including the hydrotherapy pool, sauna, steamroom, salt inhalation roomand plunge pool.
