Scottish Nail Tech competition returns for 2014


Your chance to shine


Scottish Nail Tech 2014 returns on Sunday 23rd andMonday 24thMarch as part of the annual Scottish Beauty event taking place at the Royal Highland Centre, Edinburgh.


Now in its 11th year, the competition has been devised by Competition Director Denise Wright, and organised by Guild Press Ltd, publishers of Nail File and Guild Newsmagazines.


This year we have 10 categories for you to enter – with a brand new OverallWinner to be announced…


Top Tech Competition Nails


This category enables you to really show off your pink and white skills. You will have 2½ hours to complete a full set of 10 pink and white competition nails, for which you can use any system.


Salon Nail Challenge


Showcase your salon work by creating a full set of 10 salon nail extensions in 1½ hours using any systemand any of the products you would use in the salon.


Top Tech Stiletto


Competitors have 2½ hours to complete one hand of pink and white sculpted Stiletto nails using either Gel or Liquid and Powder. This is a category that will really showcase your skills.


Top Tech Permanent Polish


Competitors are given 60minutes to complete a set of nail enhancements using Permanent Polish, including nail shaping, prepping and application,with one hand finished in red crème and the other to a traditional French finish.


Freestyle Nail Art Challenge


Open to all competitors, you will have 1½ hours to complete one hand of encapsulated / embedded nail art using any systemwith the choice of adding 3-D artwork on the thumb and ring finger.Get creative with designs, nail shapes and colour options.


Student Tip & Overlay Challenge


The Student Tip & Overlay Challenge category is open to students who have been doing any type of nails for less than two years and have never entered any professional nail competition before. It is very popular with Level 2 / 3 college students.


Top Tech Photographic Nail Art – Cocktail Hour


Judges will be looking for best 'cover shot' which encapsulates this year's theme of ‘Cocktail Hour’. Anything goes in this category so you can be as creative as you like – the possibilities are endless!


Top Tech Photographic Classic Nail – Cocktail Hour


Judges will be looking for the best photograph that showcases nails that have beenmanicured completely natural or have natural / standard French nail extensions / overlays applied or have a clear or plain coloured polish applied..


Top Tech Boxed Nail Art & Student Boxed Nail Art – Cocktail Hour


Judges are looking for 10 decorated nails presented in a plain display box, over which the theme of ‘Cocktail Hour’ is demonstrated.


Scottish Nail Tech OverallWinner 2014


This year’s competition will reward the nail tech with the overall highest score, taking into account all points accumulated over two days of competition including Photographic and Boxed Nail Art entries.This means that themore competitions entered, the better chance you have to be named overall winner and Scottish Nail Tech 2014.
