Bidwells announces new head of planning

Mike Derbyshire has become an equity partner at Bidwells where he has taken on the role of head of planning. He brings some 25 years’ experience in both private and public sectors, most recently as a senior director at Savills’ London office, prior to which he was a chief planning officer. In previous roles, Derbyshire (pictured) has advised Caprice Holdings on all its London restaurants, which include The Ivy, and handled delivery of the London Clinic’s £300m Quantum Leap scheme to expand and modernise its estate in central London. He has also acted on high-end residential properties, including the Grade I listed Nash terrace in Park Crescent. Derbyshire also helped secure outline permission for Crest Strategic for its Millennium Community in Milton Keynes, which includes 1,200 homes, two schools and a town centre anchored by Waitrose. Patrick McMahon, senior partner at Bidwells, said, “Mike’s experience of planning at a national level will be invaluable in Bidwells’ continued evolution, taking us into new sectors, strengthening existing and accelerating the establishment of new services.”

The part-exchange arm of LSL Land & New Homes, The PX Hub, has achieved ISO 9001:2008 certification. The standard acknowledges the firm’s commitment to customer service, careful management and regular bespoke reporting and, as part of this commitment, all staff are encouraged to take personal development courses and achieve qualifications. With support from senior management, eight members of staff have already gained apprenticeship/NVQ qualifications in areas including customer service business administration, team leadership and business management at advanced level. The hard work seems to be paying off, with The PX Hub reporting that new client numbers have grown by 266% since January 2013 and that an average instruction-to-offer period of 36 days is being achieved.
