a Backwaters and Beaches Tropical Keralan adventure


Jungle treks, curry lessons and traditional dancing are all part of this journey to the tropical Indian state of Kerala. We cycle through local fi shing villages, meet elephant trainers and cruise along India’s backwaters on a houseboat. We trek through the jungle in Periyar National Park and travel to the exotic coast to relax on its sandy beaches.

Day 1 Join tour Varkala. Day 2 Bikes and Elephants Enjoy a gentle cycle along country lanes to visit an elephant camp. Day 3 Houseboats Cruise through the backwaters and learn about life in the local villages. Day 4 Backwaters Option to visit nearby beaches and Snake Temple. The snake boat-racing festival takes place in August. Days 5/6 Homestay Learn to cook a curry in the family kitchen at our homestay. Stroll through coconut plantations and paddy fi elds or hire bikes to explore nearby temples. Day 7 Jungle trek In Periyar National

Park trek through the jungle in search of wildlife including elephants, wild pigs and bison. Days 8/9 Kochi and Kathakali Explore the former colonial settlement. Meet the Kathakali dancers and have your face painted in their colourful designs. Days 10/11 Kovalam Beach Take a train to the beach. Options include a massage, a curry lesson or shopping. Day 12 Tour ends Kovalam.
