FCI: New Connectors Support PCI Express
Singapore — FCI, a supplier of con- nectors and interconnect systems, has successfully demonstrated the BERGSTAK® 0.8mm mezzanine con- nector capability to support PCI Ex- press® 3.0 signaling at 8GT/s. The compact, dual-row BERG -
STAK 0.8mm pitch connector series is available in 40 to 200 positions in increments of 20 positions. PCIe 3.0 signal performance is demonstrated up to 10mm stack height. The wide spectrum of circuit sizes and stack heights allows this connector family to support evolving designs and me- chanical requirements in a variety of board-stacking applications. All connectors in this family
have a robust blade-on-beam contact design at the mating interface and surface-mount termination at the PCB interface to maximize connec- tion integrity. Connector polariza- tion at the mating interface, along with ample lead-in angles, produces

ASSET InterTech and Arium Join to Improve Debugging
Richardson, TX — ASSET® In- terTech has acquired Arium (
www.arium.com), an Irvine, Calif., provider of software debug tools for systems based on Intel® and ARM® processors. Arium’s debug tools will be inte-
grated into ASSET’s ScanWorks® platform for debug, validation and test, which will reportedly make it the most powerful and comprehen- sive non-intrusive toolset for chip and circuit board designers, manu- facturing test engineers and trou- bleshooting support personnel. Arium’s software debug and

trace capabilities complement the ScanWorks platform’s ability to ac- cess, manage and control test and measurement instruments embed- ded in chips. The expanding number of processing cores as well as the in- tegration of more and more resources into system-on-a-chip (SoC) devices is causing explosive growth in the
volume of software that is required to interface hardware with operating system software and applications. Arium’s hardware-assisted debug tools give developers the ability to troubleshoot code quickly while the company’s trace tools help designers rapidly analyze the software trans- actions and interactions among cores, threads and code modules. Arium’s advanced debug and
trace capabilities complement Scan- Works HSIO, a toolset that lets de- signers debug and validate the chip- to-chip buses on circuit boards. By combining these various debug, trace and validation capabilities, design- ers will be able to bring up a proto- type design faster so it can be moved
into volume manufacturing sooner. Contact: Asset InterTech, 2201
