Loctite® LM416 allows a smooth switch rail transition, which can eliminate delay minutes by ensuring greater reliability than can be expected from dry slide chairs. Following track trials the lubricant gained its Network Rail Certificate of Acceptance last year (PADS no. PA 05/04961).


Loctite® LM416 was originally developed for SNCF and underwent stringent tests to demonstrate its efficiency in temperature extremes and very wet conditions. Henkel recommends using its Loctite® 7063 solvent-based cleaner and degreaser in advance of applying Loctite® LM416 by long- handled brush – which requires just 6ml of the product per chair. Supplier and buyer link-up set to save £5.5 million per year


Global supply chain management company Achilles has launched Link- up Engage, an advanced portal used to register and pre-qualify suppliers. This next generation of Achilles Link-up is estimated to generate £5.5 million-worth of savings per year in terms of resourcing. It offers a streamlined pre-qualification process, a shorter questionnaire, intuitive user interface and advanced procurement features.


Achilles director of rail and transport Annette Gevaert said Link-up Engage would be of ‘particular benefit to SME’s while allowing buyers and suppliers to concentrate on the value-add parts of their businesses.’

The Li64RR is set to revolutionise the locomotive industry says the company, by replacing two 32 volt lead acid batteries weighing 1,000kg with one 64 volt lithium battery weighing just 150kg. Virtually maintenance-free, the Li64RR eliminates the need for regular ‘watering’ by lead acid batteries, and has a life cycle up to three times longer. Its built-in battery management system prevents drainage to zero capacity and it can be plugged into any AC power source to charge.
