The ever-busy British Cycling has been seeding its own grass roots by enlisting 12 young people to take part in its National Youth Forum to help shape the future of cycle sport. The dozen are all volunteers at Go-Ride clubs around the country who are charged with helping develop opportunities for their peers to ride, race and volunteer. They’ll be meeting every quarter at British Cycling’s HQ with that aim in mind. The organisation was bowled over by the applicants applying for a spot on the Forum, saying: “We were overwhelmed by the strength of the candidates who put themselves forward for the role.” Find out more at www.britishcycling.org.uk


Czech Republic tyre brand Rubena has been celebrating its first season in the UK cycle market by backing Essex’s MTB series Mud, Sweat and Gears. The rubber specialist has got behind the second part of the eight-round challenge, which is already underway after a race at the (not so) Secret Nuclear Bunker at Kelvedon Hatch, riding on to Hinchingbrooke Country Park, then Langdon Hills and finally Hadleigh Farm. MSG was originally set up in 2008 to support cycling at grass roots to nurture an Olympic legacy in the area.
