ATG Increasing demand for Cytech training has seen ATG create a new facility near London’s King Cross. The vocational industry training firm has links with key industry firms to help raise the profile and ability of the trade’s cycle mechanics.
BIKE-INN Bike trade stalwarts Alf and Teresa Webb, based in Spalding, Lincolnshire, have been involved in training all their lives, teaching bicycle mechanics since 1991 on a full-time basis.
MAGURA Magura brought its innovative range to the Zyro stable this year, with recent highlights the eLect fork with intelligent sensors, sensing terrain and adjusting accordingly for riders.

CHAIN REACTION CYCLES The Northern Irish retailer isn’t afraid to make a monkey out of itself, as evidenced by its Christmas video extravaganza. The rest of the time it is a keen social marketer and even gatecrashed a Rhianna YouTube appearance.
HOY BIKES Chris Hoy’s new range of bikes have run competition rides around Herne Hill with the man himself, Twitter comps to win a bike, #Hoytour and more. The brand has not been a social media slouch.
RALEIGH Red or Dead and Raleigh ran a street photoshoot in Nottingham, co-ordinated by Twitter and Facebook updates. The buzz from those led to coverage in the likes of Vogue, Glamour and The Daily Mail.
ROAD.CC Any follower of
road.cc on Twitter will know the media brand is a keen Tweeter, whether mixing with readers or sharing news. At time of press they’ve tweeted 35,734, which is a measure of er, how often they’ve tweeted.
STOLENBIKES UK This simple but hugely effective idea – reporting and retweeting stolen bike news to spread the word in the cycle community – has taken off in a big way.
SINGLETRACK The irreverant Singletrack Tweets competitions and images of beer to its thousands of followers, providing insights into behind the scenes of the mag (including ‘beer at your desk Fridays’).

ACTSMART ActSmart’s dealer membership sees them put the nation’s IBDs in touch with almost every service you can imagine, from finance to cycle to work and everything in between.
CITRUS-LIME EPOS and Ecommerce specialist Citrus-Lime has teamed up with some of the biggest names in the business, not least Giant, recently developing its bike trade specific offering for bike dealers.
CYCLESCHEME
The best known cycle to work provider in the land, Cyclescheme links up with IBDs, bangs the C2W drum with the Alliance, all while working on fresh initiatives like Cycle to Work day.

BIKERIGHT! Graced by a visit by Chris Boardman this year, BikeRight! provides cycle training, bicycle maintenance courses, cycle instructor training and MTB skills courses for all ages and abilities.
CYCLEFIT One of the first to put bike fitting at its core, Cyclefit runs bike-fitting courses and an international conference raising the profile of the sector.
CYCLE SYSTEMS ACADEMY Since 2007, Cycle Systems Academy has provided cycle maintenance training as well as maintenance and repair. The firm has developed its offering to include frame building through a Havering College partnership.
CYCLE TRAINING WALES Not-for-profit enterprise Cycle Training Wales provides a multitude of training offerings. From Doctor Bike and maintenance training, to MTB and off-road riding training.
EVOPOS
This ecommerce specialist recently broke new ground with a free basic offering for bike retailers. It also launched a smartphone/tablet offering at the tail end of last year. QUEST CONSULTANTS Headed up by trade familiar Colin Rees, Quest provides sales training to IBDs and recently launched a ‘road show’ of training sessions for bicycle retailers.
CYCLING ADVOCACY ACHEIVEMENT
THE BIG PEDAL
Now well established on the calendar, this nationwide school cycle competition is organised by Sustrans and funded by the trade through Bike Hub. Participation is on the up.
CYCLETTA Victoria Pendleton-fronted Cycletta organises traffic-free cycle rides for women. Growing in popularity, Cycletta events far exceed the two a year it started with.
GET BRITAIN CYCLING REPORT (ALL PARTY PARLIAMENTARY CYCLING GROUP) Get Britain Cycling wasn’t down to any one organisation, but the APPCG probably deserve as much of the credit as any for the ground- breaking Parliamentary report, keeping bikes high on the political agenda.
GO DUTCH (LCC) The English Capital has seen flash rides, organised political campaigns and more advocacy than you can shake a stick at, courtesy of the London Cycle Campaign. Go Dutch is one of its most visible campaigns.
SKY RIDE (BRITISH CYCLING) From London to Edinburgh, Cardiff to Norwich, Sky Ride has given ordinary folk the chance to ride around their city without worrying about cars. Now a fixture in the calendar.
THE TIMES CYCLING PETITION The Times has not been a slouch since its ‘Safer Cities’ campaign, pressing home the case for Parliamentary Debate with a well-supported petition that the Government responded to within days of setting up.
