Tourism talk “Our main tourism areas are still Chobe and Okavango, especially for
fi rst timers, but Botswana is developing more cultural tourism – for example, Tsodilo Hills, Moremi Gorge and the Sepupa cultural village in Kasane will open this year. “The low volume of beds makes it more diffi cult to book some camps/ lodges in peak season. However, there are now many more options for mid- range or value accommodation which makes the destination more accessible. Most properties are working towards
the ec- certifi cation scheme – the use of ecological systems for water, energy, recycling, etc – which will soon be a mandatory requirement. Botswana Tourism Organisation UK will be organising trade workshops and we also have online training for agents.” Dawn Parr, UK & Ireland Representation, Botswana Tourism Organisation
