experience: from vanity facilities, with jewellery trays for peace of mind, to private shower facilities. The behind-the-scenes, functional aspect of the spa operation is kept out of view of the guests.” Other notable design features were incorporated into the back-to back-corridors which lead to the treatment zone, pool and fitness areas. “We were faced with two long corridors, so we decided to punctuate this length of wall space with niches and objets d’art and to make sure that they undulate and flow,” explains Moore. “One side is quite architectural and reflective, using the natural light coming into the spa and voiles to soften the decor. There has been a lot of thought put into how guests will move around and how to make their journey a pleasurable one.” Importantly, the spa’s luxurious service and the sense of personalisation is underpinned by its layout. “We designed the space to accommodate a high level of service execution,” Moore states. “The whole treatment area side can be completely sectioned off, which is fantastic for bridal and private parties. In fact, the bathroom in one suite also converts into a pop-up hair salon, which can also be sectioned off for privacy.”

Going with the flow On the active side, the second corridor leads from reception to the changing rooms and an 80sqm fitness suite featuring the latest Technogym equipment. The 257sqm pool and thermal area creates a focal point, with its unique bubble-shaped leisure pool finished in bespoke mosaics by Italian tiling specialists Bizzaza. As well as the plush loungers poolside, there is also a sauna, a steam room, an ice fountain and vitalising showers. A spiral staircase leads from the pool area onto the outdoor Sun Sanctuary overlooking the city. “In the swimming pool area we have four significant

pillars, so it was challenging to put any form of serious lap pool in this space. We decided to think laterally and create something very beautiful and architectural. This is when we came up with the Bubble Pool,” says Moore. “Our designers then worked with Bizzaza to customise the pattern on the pool so it accentuates the shape of the bubbles, which are reflected on the ceiling. It really has been a labour of love – even down to the pool loungers, we knew exactly what we wanted; we tested everything so that guests would be comfortable for snoozing, reading and even snuggling.”
