What makes Barr + Wray unique? We combine cutting-edge design and innovative concepts with a wealth of engineering knowledge. Our expert project management and site experience provides our clients with the most eff ective solutions. We have the ability to turn an idea into a reality by creating cost-eff ective heat experiences, without compromising on quality and style.

Why are heat experiences important to the spa journey? Health and wellness is vitally important and, whether used before or after a treatment, heat experiences promote an inner calm and sense of wellbeing which is unrivalled. Heat facilities off er a relaxing haven where guests can be stimulated by features such as fragrance, steam bathing, light or dark environments and options for hot and cold immersion, which deepens the bather’s sensory perception and enhances the overall experience.

What key factors should be considered when installing a heat experience? The guest experience has to be the primary consideration and we aim to deliver an environment which matches the surrounding area and fulfi ls the client’s wishes. In addition, successful integration of the

mechanical and building elements are key within the design and installation phases.

Which recent project are you most proud of and why? In our 50-year contracting history, we have been involved in many fantastic projects and have received many accolades. Our recently completed installation for ESPA Life at Corinthia Hotel London was one such project. Barr + Wray supplied and installed the separate male and female wet spa, the mixed wet spa area, the vitality pool with spa attractions and the stainless steel lap pool with fi bre-optic fl oor and perimeter tea-light lighting. There were many challenges, including working within a very tight basement site, but the fi nished project speaks for itself.

What new trends have you seen emerging? Salt water and mineral pool systems appear to be making a reappearance. We have provided mineral salts dosing and even a seaweed solution recently, as spas want to provide guests the option of having something other than chlorine on their skin. We’ve also continued to develop the perennially popular Vitality Pool installations, which add a ‘wow’ factor to many of our spa projects.
