The viasPAS has a setup webpage for configuration and a web service for the interface to a PIS-system. The system gathers data from the PIS and has a core process that controls time-based and event-based messages. The viasPAS also offers a webpage for operators whereby they can check that a message has been delivered.


The viasPAS is the newest software programme in the vias range of public information systems for rail stations, currently used by Jernbaneverket, the national railway enterprise of Norway. The system runs both on Linux and Windows platforms and can manage large numbers of external units with both text and speech.


The viasPAS re-configures online and changes are implemented without interruption. The system also reacts swiftly to external incidents - the time from registering an incident to implementing all the necessary actions is typically one to two seconds. viasPAS is scaleable and easily adjusts to the amount of data and the number of traffic nodes. No hard-coded relations are contained in vias – neither station names, station short names nor platform numbers are in the source code. This unique irradiation cross-linked XLPO insulation, which combined flame and wet electrical properties with mechanical toughness, changed the landscape of the locomotive and transit vehicle wiring market.

RSSC has also developed a low-smoke halogen-free Exane product - Exane ZH. This irradiated cross-linked XLPO compound bridges the performance gap between existing LSHF cable products and the stringent physical and electrical


requirements of the transit market. RSSC-Exane PC (Premises Cable) cables are of lightweight construction and use a class 5 Tinned Copper flexible conductor, with easy strip single layer insulation. The smaller sizes have an O/D of around 50 per cent less than other approved cables. Exane PC London Underground Approval (ID1344) has now been amended to cover sizes from 0.75mm² to 400mm². In 2007, RSSC began looking for a European partner to hold stock and service customer needs locally. It identified Goldwing Cable in the United Kingdom as a local distributor with a similar philosophy to its own. Goldwing Cable distributes high- temperature, low smoke fume and halogen-free cables throughout Europe from its distrubution centre in Beccles, Suffolk. The company’s delivery service includes a range of customer support services including urgent requirements


for small orders needed for next day delivery to the storage and phased deliveries for major projects.
