Signalling Design Engineer-Birmingham
General Description: To undertake Detailed Design of design details for SSI trackside Projects. Working as part of the design team. To interface to the Design Manager, in reporting progress of the works assigned for the project. Design to be of the technologies listed below. Essential Requirements To hold IRSE License 1.1.150C/D or equivalent as a minimum. Technology Requirements SSI line side equipment knowledge (ability to produce designs using DLM’s, TFM’s and LDT’s). Knowledge of RRI type lineside/location circuitry. Dorman LED signal technology (including PLJI, PLGS, MARI & SARI). Heritage Colour Light Signals (SL35, Fibre-Optic etc.) Mixed Point machine types (Clamp-lock, HW, HPSA, IBCL, etc.) BR spec 867 train detection. AzLM axle counters (not essential requirement). Typical Design Items. Location Plans. Bonding Plans. Control Tables. Location and REB wiring. Power Calculations (Signalling).

Part-time – circa 10-20 days per year (minimum 2 year appointment)
The role of the Delay Attribution Board is to manage and oversee the effectiveness and accuracy of the delay attribution process and use of the Delay Attribution Guide and the Performance Data Accuracy Code. The Board comprises 12 members appointed/elected from the rail industry supported by a Board Secretary, and an independent Chair.
The DAB has operated successfully for the last 10 years and now seeks to appoint a new independent Chair with effect from February 2014 to lead this important rail industry body.

Provides leadership to the Delay Attribution Board Requires the ability to comprehend, handle and resolve complex issues
Requires independence from any current rail industry organisation
Requires the ability to take a broad view of industry needs relating to delay attribution, including commercial and train service performance improvement.
The Requirements:
Experience at a senior level within the rail industry, and/or its regulatory bodies
Detailed knowledge and familiarity with the construction and interpretation of contracts
Knowledge of the organisational framework of the railway industry
manner
Proven track record as a communicator with good computer literacy, speaking, written and listening skills
Strong capability to analyse problems logically and assess and weigh evidence.
