Business profile
senarios both in rail and in highways. The potential to conduct on-train
observations and assessment of movements using Bluetooth (or WiFi or GSM) is particularly interesting, as this would have huge advantages in terms of gathering origin/destination data alongside absolute volumes. At present this can only be done by merging multiple datasets such as load-weigh (passenger volume) and the LENNON ticketing database. Tracsis is continuing to seek
and software partners and developed a system for temporary tracking surveys. In mid-2011, the first vehicle tracking project using Bluetooth was undertaken. This was very well received and between then and the end of April 2013 Sky High has undertaken nearly 60 projects involving some 600 temporary installations. These surveys have been in both the vehicle and the people tracking markets involving projects in the road/rail (stations), event (festivals, sporting venues) and retail sectors. Sky High recently launched its Footprint
service package which combines tracking, video and manual survey techniques to provide a customised data collection, analysis and reporting service that meets the demands of complex pedestrian tracking projects. The technology is beginning to prove its worth in a number of survey
opportunities for testing a wider range of possible applications in rail, including:
• supplementing count data to derive travel patterns at and between stations
• through-platform monitoring at complex interchanges
• retail activity at station • car park to station tracking
