New director for South West Trains-Network Rail Alliance


Sharon Vye Parminter has joined as Safety and Assurance director, and in the process has become the third female director within the Alliance. She has 19 years’ experience in delivering a safe railway, most recently with First Great Western, and before that First Capital Connect and Intercity.

Andy Thomas new head of rail operations at Mott MacDonald


Thomas’s brief is to enhance and grow the consultancy’s service offering in this area. With extensive experience in rail, he has worked for companies including Network Rail, Central Trains, London Midland and ScotRail. Robert Gray, Mott MacDonald’s rail director, said: ‘Andy has delivered projects that have improved train, safety and organisational performance throughout his career.’


Bombardier Transportation appoints Francis Paonessa


Paonessa is the new president of Rolling Stock and Services UK and chairman of Bombardier Transportation UK. He joined the company in 2010 as president of the Rolling Stock business based in Derby and over the past three years has ‘led the transformation of rolling stock manufacturing in Derby’.


Laurent Troger, president, Rolling Stock Atlantic and Services, Bombardier Transportation, said: ‘With this appointment we continue to simplify our businesses in the UK, by consolidating our rolling stock and services business to provide one face to the customer.’


Sir Peter Hendy elected president of the International Association of Public Transport


Commissioner of Transport for London (TfL), Hendy will take over from Ousmane Thiam. He said: ‘TfL is at the cutting edge of transportation and a leader in innovation of world transport. Eversholt Rail appoints chief operating officer


Andy Course is the new COO of Eversholt Rail and is responsible for engineering, asset management and projects, and procurement. Course was previously with PwC and before that spent more than 20 years in the Royal Navy. Mary Kenny, CEO of
