pr AND MARKETING Spread the Love... make a Lonely Bouquet promote your business

taken up by dozens of florists around the UK and signs are the brain child of Emily Avenson, a delightful young florist in Belgium, could become both a worldwide campaign and a big heap PR opportunity for florists as well. Hannah Dunne explains more.

W The Lonely Bouquet is “a

movement dedicated to spreading happiness and smiles, one flower at a time”. The idea is simple; make a bouquet, attach a “take me!” tag, and leave it for a stranger to find to brighten their day. We fell in love with the idea and that’s why we’re helping Emily and family promote the first ever (inter)National Lonely Bouquet Day on June 30th

, but we

reckon it’s an idea florists should grab as well. Lonely Bouquets have already

been papped all over the world; Emily of Fleuropean has heard directly from 30 florists from Finland to Australia, but if the reaction on our Facebook page is anything to go by, inter(National) Lonely Bouquet Day by Sunday June 30th

the event and the concept in general you’ll be promoting the flower industry itself in a lovely new light which could get a whole bunch of new consumers interested in flowers, boosting smiles and sales all round! Something one florist has already discovered. Louise Ford of 4 Seasons florist

in Harrogate (pictured) was the first to spot our Facebook posting and thought it was such a brilliant idea she immediately gave it a go. She made this sweet bouquet, left it for someone to pick up, posted a picture on her business Facebook page and before long had heaps of people admiring

her gesture. She even received a response from the lucky stranger who found it because she remembered to leave a tag on the bouquet – apparently it was later pictured proudly displayed at a local hotel for all their guests to view! Louise’s example is perfect

proof of the publicity that this movement can generate as she told us: “The response was incredible”. When we last checked, the picture of her Lonely Bouquet had 340 ‘likes’ and had been ‘shared’ nearly 50 times! What’s more she’s been sent over 60 kind comments from customers and strangers – from as far away as Ireland and Australia! Louise plans to continue

spreading cheer with her bouquets and to promote the idea, with June 30th

firmly set in

her diary, adding that “being able to make someone’s day like that is just brilliant, and the response has been amazing”. It’s clear that The Lonely Bouquet could serve as a great tool to boost your business; those Facebook ‘shares’ mean that your designs and kind gestures are being spread far and wide across cyber-space, and the public just love the idea.
