Funeral sales to die for

filled bouquet holder – these days Val Spicer the company is very much a specialist in the funeral market. Having revolutionised the

way letter tributes are made with their clip together EAZY lettering system they now focus predominantly on larger funeral tributes as Martin explained “We’re always looking to

innovate in order to help our customers,” says Martin. “When we came into the funeral marketplace, we looked at it and asked what was missing. And that’s what we’ve been doing ever since, talking to florists to find out what they really need and want and also introducing lines they didn’t realise they wanted or could sell until they were available!” Both Jay and Martin firmly believe that florists who go the extra mile and offer a completely bespoke service are the ones that will see their funeral business grow and prosper… especially as it’s the unique preserve of florists alone. In the old days funeral bases,

even for traditional wreaths and crosses, were made from wire covered with moss. Time- consuming, messy and more than a bit painful on the hands! If you wanted anything special

Design boards made it cleaner but it was still hard to cut out specific shapes and was especially time-consuming. With the arrival of 3D technology shapes suddenly got a whole lot easier and florists have never had it so good! For not only do Val Spicer offer

over 145 different pre-made shapes but provide a bespoke shape making service that sees Jay’s creative talents used to the full as he makes any shape, design or character you could want ranging from Mickey Mouse, a Pasty, to a 3D Horse “The products are there for

florists to allow them to create the spectacular,” says Jay. “It’s increasingly important for florists to talk up, and indeed sell, their design talents not just for weddings but every occasion where flowers are needed. The need to impress upon the customer the impact of something very personal as a funeral tribute cannot be overestimated. Each individual is exactly that and there is always something you will remember them for, whether that be the love for their dog or their penchant for a pint of beer! The only way that trade will survive and prosper is by promoting and selling our expertise.” Part of that

promotion is showcasing all the possibilities which is why Val
