Website launched in Denbighshire to encourage take-up
AiP signs three- year contract with Birmingham school
Alliance in Partnership (AiP) has secured a three- year contract to supply school meals to St Paul’s Catholic Girls School in Birmingham, worth around £500,000.
It comes with a two-year option at the end of the contract and will see the caterer introduce a new deli counter and ‘grab and go’ area, as well as a new menu range concept at the school.
The company first started providing meals to the 986 pupils in February and has seen an increase in daily take-up of hot meals. “We were producing three times the amount of food within the first week than the team were previously used to producing,” said AiP managing director David Weller. “We are delighted to be working with the staff at St Paul’s and we look forward to developing our menu ranges, as well as introducing a new breakfast service, very soon.” AiP’s contracts now total 160, with a turnover
of £13m.
A website has been launched to encourage greater take-up of school meals in Denbighshire.
www.denbighshireschoolmeals.co.uk includes menus for individual schools, details of special promotions and cashless payment systems, policy on buying ingredients and information on free school meals. There is also an educational game section for children.
“This is a great opportunity to raise the profile of school meals in Denbighshire and provide pupils, parents and guardians with a one stop shop where their questions can be answered at the touch of a button,” said Ian Kemp, Denbighshire’s catering manager.
New food concept from Major International
Major International has developed a new ‘Simply Taste’ concept for Manchester University, which can be applied to various school canteens as well, it claims. Developed with the brief of making it ‘quick and easy‘ for caterers to serve whilst providing exceptional flavours, the concept can be used at salad, soup, burger, jacket potato, pasta and pizza stations. It was well received by students and lecturers at Manchester University and it plans to roll out the concept from September. Major plans to offer customers an array of menu options in a range of school dinner areas using the Major Mari- Base marinades.
“I only spoke to Major back in January about this and here we are in April and it’s completed,” said Martin Smith, executive head chef at Manchester University. “I’ve had very little input, all I’ve had to say is yes, no, yes, no and its been done. All I’ve had to do is buy the products and for me that’s perfect. Major have provided all the training and promotional materials for us and it’s been fabulous.”
Developed to be used with a range
of 11 Mari-Base marinades, Major take responsibility for all of the promotional design, advertisements and training, making it simple and hassle free for all involved.
