hen Selux was founded in Berlin in 1948, the city still lay in ruins, with little electricity or light. Its very


first products were developed to meet the local need - providing Berliners with simple, affordable, battery-powered lamps. Selux’ s founder Hermann Bansbach believed that light had a social and cultural significance that went far beyond doing business and making a profit. That mindset is still alive today and Selux still experience the fascination and satisfaction of adding quality to people’s lives through the realisation of sophisticated lighting concepts. Within 65 years this craftsman’s shop in Berlin turned into a global company with 500 employees in Europe, North America, and Australia including its UK base in Leamington Spa. Evolution that spans so many decades does not become a success through ad-hoc decisions; it comes from careful planning and sophisticated ideas that reflect the company’s ongoing demand for high standards in every detail.
