An MPC coupling can consist of one fixed and one mobile part. For the fixed part, either a straight plug connector is mounted using existing mounting holes, or a flush-mounted box is installed in a panel. The mobile plug connector enables adaptation to a wide variety of installation requirements by the selection of straight or angled modules.


The result is a particularly compact connection between two carriages by using fixed flush-mount boxes with a mobile angle connector. Combining linear plug connectors results in particularly low profile couplings, for example for under floor installation, when a metal cover can be installed to prevent mechanical damage from the impact of stones etc.


Multiple applications


Applications for Multi-Contact’s MPC connector system can be found in trains, metros and trams, as well as in the electrical drive trains for locomotives and high speed trains. The traction transformer reduces the voltage of 15 or 25 kV generally used in rail systems to the operating voltage required by the traction engine of generally between 1500 and 2000 V. The MPCs are used to transmit power from the secondary side of the transformer as well as for the power supply to the drive motor. Additional applications are the power connection between carriages and the electrical connection of components such as inverters and batteries. With rated values of 3600 V and up to 700 A, the connector is suitable for many other industrial high current and high voltage applications. The connectors have been certified to IP66 / IP67 / IP69K protection

The solar power components are manufactured for extreme longevity in harsh weather conditions, with cable rated for a usable lifetime of 25 years or more.
