TB Wood’s Incorporated (An Altra Industrial Motion Company) has been pouring iron for over 150 years. Sure, the pour is the hot, pho- togenic moment. Behind that scene, though, you need to know if your casting source can deliver the precision, quality, service and engineering that gives your company a competitive edge. TB Wood’s ISO 9001:2008 registered foundry and machine shop operations are capable of producing parts up to 10,000 pounds per cast part. In addition, our com- plete to print capabilities, our quality control procedures (including CMM, gage calibration, and solidification modeling), and our proven delivery system, enable us to satisfy most casting requirements quickly and efficiently, on-time and on-budget. At the core of our success is the power- ful management process we call the Altra Business System (ABS), a comprehensive business management system designed to achieve world-class excellence. The Altra Business System begins with two key ingredients:The voice of the customer and total associate involvement.
The Altra Business System focuses on
improvements in quality, delivery, and cost to drive customer satisfaction. It also pro- vides the tools to achieve specific business objectives with the involvement of all as- sociates. In order to produce world-class, quality castings at competitive prices, ABS uses an integrated approach to manufactur- ing which manages equipment, materials, and people in the most efficient manner while ensuring a safe and blameless work environment. Some of the key principles followed include: Kanban, Kaizen, and standardized work. Kaizen or continuous improvement, is one of the main drivers of the ABS. Its primary objectives are to identify and eliminate waste in all areas of the facility, including the manufacturing, purchasing, and administrative processes. TB Wood’s specializes in low to medium volume castings. Our customers operate in a diverse group of industries, includ- ing, general industrial, material handling, aggregate and mining, power generation, oil and gas, pump and compressor, and transportation.
