We focus on prototype, low-to-mid vol- ume specialized steel, and chrome iron cast products for transportation, mining, power generation, shot blast machinery, asphalt, cement, corrosion resistant pumps, pressure vessels, general cast steel components and heat resistant stainless steel applications. As- tech offers the flexibility of several molding processes including green sand, no-bake, shell, ceramic and graphite to produce cast products varying in complexity from 1 to 2,000 lb.
Our expertise with some of most sophis- ticated alloys on the market today is the hallmark of Astech. Demanding bi-metal applications are accommodated through our ARB process where two separate alloys are joined in a molten state to achieve a metal- lurgical bond. This process is used specifically for applications where the component must have the manufacturing flexibilities of steel and the wear resistant attributes of chrome iron or tungsten carbide.
Our experience with abrasion resistant alloys including chromium and chromium molybdenum white irons is second to none. These alloys are unequaled in their resistance to abrasive environments, and we have used
them extensively in shot blast machines, crusher blocks, chute liners, cement produc- tion, earth moving wear parts, vibratory mills, food processing, agricultural equipment and many others. We also uniquely specialize in the pro- duction of 11%-14% austenitic manganese steel castings for various wear resistant applications. Our in-house research and de- velopment team has developed a proprietary version of manganese that enhances work hardening characteristics. Nickel chrome steel alloys including stain- less steel alloys grades HA through HX are ideal for heat treating furnace applications where temperatures are extreme and hot strength is essential. Our capabilities allow us to use this family of alloys for these ap- plications: burner nozzles, connection tube supports, grate supports, kiln nose ring seg- ments, hearth rollers, boiler parts and various other furnace applications. Tool steels and modified tool steels, alloyed
cast iron, carbon/low alloy steels and corro- sion resistant stainless steel alloys are also available. Astech is also highly experienced when it comes to producing a wide spectrum of alloys for specialized applications.
