Blackhawk, a subsidiary of the privately held industrial conglomerate Quimmco Group (www.quimmco.com.mx), is a gray and duc- tile iron foundry located in the north of Mexico in Santa Catarina (Monterrey area). The facility is two hours by car from Laredo, Texas. Blackhawk is capable of producing castings

from 5 to 200 lbs. It has an installed annual capacity of 25,000 metric tons and can provide fully machined castings. Currently, it is export- ing directly to the U.S. and South America. Blackhawk operates three green sand match-plate molding lines, two coreless induction melting furnaces, CNC finishing equipment and state-of-the-art design and simulation technology. In late 2013, a new nobake production line will be ready, add- ing 50% more capacity. This expansion will also enable Blackhawk to increase maximum casting size from 200 to 600 lbs. Some of Blackhawk’s current customers


are Meritor, John Deere, CNH, American Axle and ConMet.
