Binder has added to its moulded con- necting cables with the introduction of new angled, duo-connecting cables that have a 4-pole, right angle, male M12 duo-connector moulded to two PUR cables, each terminated with a moulded, straight 3-pole M8 or M12 female moulded connector. These are well suited for machine applications with limited space. IP67 when mated, these cables are particu- larly well suited for drives, controls, sensors and automation equipment. With a current rating of 4A and a voltage capacity of 60V for M12 to M8 and 250V for M12 to M12, these new connectors have a PUR connector body and cable jacket and have gold plated contacts that provide over 100 mating cycles. M Buttkereit has extended its icotek range of EMC cable shielding products to include the PFS/SCL shield clamps. This new range is designed with a quick attachment clip for easy mounting onto busbars, and also features a slim profile which is ideal for higher density cable mounting within a limited space. Adequate shielding and earthing of cabling is becoming increasingly impor- tant, particularly where higher levels of protection are required against equip- ment failure due to EMC emissions. Typically, process measurement and other control equipment can be adverse- ly affected in this manner. To achieve the positive and protective shielding, a small

section of the cable outer insulation is stripped off, and the exposed cable shielding layer then simply pushed into and securely located within the shield clamps. These clamps also provide cable strain relief in accordance with VDE. In large frequency fields, these shield clamps provide low resistance, greatly reducing high frequency interference, to offer a solution for EMC shielding. When the cable has been suitably stripped, this ensures a fast, tool-free assembly with the cable simply pressed into a positive clamped location to provide effective bonding and grounding. Enter 206 Kwik Fix speeds up installation time

Hylec-APL has recently introduced its new Kwik Fix cable gland range that is suitable for applications where access to the interior of a bulkhead or enclosure is restricted. The Kwik Fix is installed from just one side of a panel, doesn’t require a rear mounted locknut and can still achieve IP68 sealing of a cable transit. The range is especially well suited for use with large switch cabinets and cooling and heating systems. Dome topped glands have traditionally been the gland of choice of plant and mechanical engineers as rapid assembly products generally require a spe- cial tool for assembly, are often awkward to install and form an unreliable seat. However, there are times when access to the inside is restricted and tra- ditional solutions are awkward to install. The Kwik Fix cable gland can be attached to any bulkhead or enclosure in three quick steps, with access to only one side and no specialised tools. Firstly the base of the gland is inserted through the entry and the mounting foot is positioned against the internal wall. An external hexagonal locking nut is then turned anti- clockwise to hold the gland in place and form an IP68 seal. Finally, once locked into position, the cable can be installed in the traditional manner - tightening the cap nut in a clockwise direction.

This means that the gland can be easily mounted and dismounted from one side making installation and maintenance far simpler. In addition, the gland takes up less internal space which gives greater space for internal wiring etc. The gland can be fitted onto entries where the wall thickness is between 1mm and 4mm and will maintain an IP rating up to IP68 safely

in temperatures between -20°C and 100°C. It also has an integrated strain relief and is suitable for all stan- dard hole sizes (M16, M20, M25 and M32). Terry Spriggs, product marketing manager for Hylec-APL, said, “While traditional cable glands are ideal solutions for many electrical installations, we realise that every application has its own unique consideration which is why we stock many entry solution components - from grommets to ATEX rated glands. The Kwik Fix adds a further dimen- sion to our cable gland range, offering easy installa- tion for applications that would be traditionally awkward. The Kwik Fix can reduce installation time significantly, which in turn directly increases productivity and therefore profits.”
