Road-holding is exceptionally good even on tighter bends and the cabin noise is virtually non-existent. Jaguar has kitted out the XF Sportbrake with a really comprehensive


range of top notch safety features, including anti-lock brakes, dynamic stability control, cornering brake control, pedestrian contact sensing, emergency brake assist, numerous airbags and a whole lot more. T e test car was priced at £48,872 with almost £4k worth of optional


extras fi tted including a ski hatch which makes carrying awkwardly- shaped items much easier.


And with a combined fuel economy of 54.3mpg it means owners will be spending less of their valuable time and cash at the fuel pumps and more time enjoying the wonders of the XF Sportbrake. According to Jaguar, the XF Sportbrake represents a “compelling


combination of elegance and capability – both practical and dynamic” and after my test drive I have to conclude that the statement perfectly sums up this car. Rivals such as Audi and BMW


have little to compete with the Sportbrake and anything similar from Mercedes carries a far weightier price-tag. So with a choice of diesel engines to choose from, it would seem Jaguar is the leading light when it comes to premium quality estate car motoring and can bask in the glory of joining the likes of Sir Bradley Wiggins on the winner’s rostrum.
