T ere is, for example, a heated windscreen with timer, a state-of-the-art infotainment system complete with DAB radio, a highly
effi cient satellite navigation system, CD/DVD player, Aux-in, USB and iPod connectivity. T ere is Bluetooth, cruise control, automatic wipers, automatic headlights, a rear parking aid which is incredibly useful considering the car’s length and plenty more besides. I tested the 2.2-litre diesel model with 200PS and the performance easily lived up to my rather high expectations. Despite its size, the XF Sportbrake powered to 62mph from a standing start in just 8.2
seconds and red-lined at 134mph and they are fi gures that will wow any estate car driver. But it wasn’t just the power, acceleration and
punchiness of the car that really impressed me, but it’s gracefulness as it eff ortlessly and smoothly moved through the eight-speed automatic transmission. T is is the sort of car that you can pick up a hot coff ee in and be safe in the knowledge that not a drop will spill as the car’s suspension absorbs every dip, bump and pothole with ease.
