Boodles invited customers and friends to

experience the golden age of travel at a pre- Christmas party on the luxuriously comfortable Northern Belle train, part of the Orient Express group.

Some 200 guests attired in evening dress and Boodles diamonds met at Liverpool Lime Street and cut dashing fi gures against the commuter backdrop and dark skies. Guests chattered away eagerly and the platform positively heaved with excitement as the classically inspired train puff ed into view.

Toot, toot and with a glass of champagne,

off to Manchester to collect 50 more stylish friends who had been at an early evening champagne reception held in the “retro Metro” bar on Manchester’s Victoria station.

With everyone on board it was off to

the Lakes while a beautifully prepared and sumptuous four course dinner was served to guests. During the evening, passengers were entertained by magicians, eff ervescent opera singers and dazzled by Escala, fi nalists in Britain’s Got Talent, and possibly the most glamorous electric string quartet ever.

As the evening drew to a

close, the atmosphere was fi zzing and guests made their own entertainment (just like the old days) by doing the Cuban carnival march, aka the conga, and what a riot it was, with guests sashaying through the Pullman carriages amid much laughter.

Somehow 5 hours had

magically slipped by. www.boodles.com
