this was a lovely touch. My partner opted for a Comfort Touch Full Body Tranquillity Massage, which loosened his hamstrings and calves (areas that he frequently works as a fitness instructor) and left him feeling energised and refreshed. After our treatments, we were taken to the spa’s Hush tranquillity room where we were tucked into beds with a light duvet and faux fur throw. Across the room, one guest was fast asleep. It was a lovely space to be quiet and meditative. Te spa also features an outdoor ‘infinity’ hot tub in which one can sit and sip champagne whilst looking over the gardens! After spending some time in the sauna, my

partner and I made our way back up to our room to change for dinner in the hotel’s Lakeview Restaurant. After browsing the extensive wine menu, we chose a bottle of Argentinean Santa Julia Pinot Grigot to compliment our choices. We were then presented with an amuse bouche; a little teacup of artichoke soup with a sprinkling of coriander. For my starter, I chose Gravalax of Salmon marinated in beetroot,

which was served with a dill crème fraiche, lemon dressing and little cubes of beetroot. Te initial taste of cream and lemon was followed instantly by the earthly flavours of beetroot and finally the taste of salmon. It seemed like every mouthful took your palate on a little journey. My partner chose Duck and Vegetable Spring Rolls on an Indonesian salad, accompanied by a sweet chilli sauce, which was beautifully presented. Tis course was followed by a mango, mandarin and orange sorbet to cleanse the palate before the main course was served. I opted for chicken breast on a bed of olive oil mash with chorizo, confit tomato, baby leeks and king prawns in a garlic dressing. Te mash and the chorizo were definitely the champions of the plate. My partner enjoyed a plate of roasted meat with the traditional trimmings. For dessert, he ordered a Baileys cheesecake and coconut ice-cream, which I can personally tell you was heavenly. I couldn’t resist the Tornby Moor Dairy cheese plate and was surprised when the waiter rolled over a trolley and sliced

each cheese for me, describing them as he did so. After a cup of coffee in the hotel’s lounge, we retired to our room for a restful night’s sleep. In the morning, we stopped by at Trotter’s World of Animals, which is situated next to Armathwaite Hall. Both my partner and I would definitely recommend a visit here as we really enjoyed ourselves. If you are planning your wedding then

Armathwaite Hall is a must-see venue with its idyllic surroundings and luxurious interiors. It is definitely the ideal destination if you are in need of some ‘me time’ or if you want to relax with a partner or group of friends. Hand your well being over to the staff when you check in and expect it back, completely mended, when you leave.
