pened in 1997 by Como Hotels and Resorts, the company behind luxurious private island resorts such as Parrot Cay in the Turks
and Caicos, the Metropolitan Hotel is located on one of the most signifi cant thoroughfares in London. Nine fl oors of exquisite accommodation are situated on Park Lane, at the point where it joins Hyde Park corner. In fact, the hotel’s Deluxe City Rooms with their views over the rooftops of Mayfair are one of the most popular choices for guests. On arriving at the Metropolitan, my partner and I understood immediately why the hotel is so well-known for its outstanding level of service. T e staff at the reception, kitted out in sharp Emporio Armani uniforms, were attentive and full of energy, working effi ciently to make our stay completely stress free. T e
design of the hotel also captured our attention. T e interiors are timeless, a subtle balance achieved by stripping back the non-essential elements of a traditional English hotel to create something contemporary, cool and classy. T e style of the hotel continued throughout
as we discovered on entering our room. Warm coff ee and cream colours were accented by rich plums and the Mayfair views were second to none. T e king-sized bed with its Egyptian cotton and goose down duvet captured one’s attention in the main space and was complimented by a spacious desk, interactive television and Bose iPod docking station. In the bathroom, COMO Shambhala amenities and a walk in shower off ered another experience of calm. We also discovered a jogging map of Hyde Park and a yoga mat, which were lovely unique touches.
