This past autumn, Kelowna bass producer Datsik translated the heat from his sets into a massive North American bus tour. Promoting his new label Firepower Records, Datsik assembled a tour roster of some of the hottest bass producers currently on the market. Supporting acts included a rotating roster of openers: xKore, The Frim, Delta Heavy, AFK, Getter, Terravita and Bare Noize. Coupled with a massive Canadian built PK sound system and Datsik’s self-conceptualized stage, the Vortex; the Firepower Tour shook brains and melted faces in 57 North American cities. Having seen some of these artists in action over the years, one could only imagine what craziness went on throughout the course of this absurd bass laden expedition. Unable to resist the curiosity, we pestered Datsik for a Firepower Tour play by play. Not contented by just one version of events, I also hit up Jon Spero from Terravita, Si from Delta Heavy, and a PK Sound travelling sound tech for their lasting impressions of tour life. Set to go out again this January, Firepower Reloaded will be wreaking havoc and bringing heat to the coldest month of the year.
