ISUALS are big business these days, just ask the Visual Jedi & VJ Infinight aka the Superstar VJs... These guys have had a mega year in 2012 touring the world across 72 countries and VJing
at the biggest festivals and club events for most EDM heavyweights. I mean, have you seen a recent major festival with no visuals?
Their company, aptly named ‘Future Visual’ after the slogan they live by (The Future Is Visual) has been supplying custom 3D animations, AV intros and video content for DJs, artists, major brands and music tours for a few years now, but with the recent boom of LED structures and video mapping, they have taken things to the next level, the rise of the VJ may be upon us, but these guys are already ahead of the game. Cue this article, an exclusive monthly piece for DJ Mag readers to gain an insight into the world of VJing and Video DJing. Let’s go...
Welcome to our first Superstar VJs article for DJ Mag. This month we are showcasing one of our most popular visual stage designs to date, the Cream Machine.
Specifically created for the dubstep artist Borgore, this custom made Ice Cream truck was entriely covered in LED strips and even featured motorised spinning chrome rims. We worked on this concept with ACP (Advance Concert Productions) who specialize in large LED designs and it was realized by Redlight management and unveilled at EDC Las Vegas 2012 on the Bass stage.
The unique production was a huge success and so with the launch of Borgore’s new track ‘Bitches Love Cake’ it was ressurected for a special weekend performance at LA’s legendary Fonda Theatre.
The beauty of this design was that the artist was encapsulated inside the truck with visuals all around him. This gave us a great platform to experiment with effects creating enviroments surrounding Borgore during his show. At some points the truck looked like it was driving through different landscapes, as the motorised wheels rotated to add to the reality of the truck.
