IHM USA SPOTLIGHT

If I was talking to someone who had never heard your music and I had an Ipod with all your songs, which song should I play that best represents your group?

Jahan: Actually, I would probably choose our unreleased one! Yasmine: Haha yes! That one is perfect! Good call! Jahan: But, if we had to choose one that is currently out, I would say Alive. Kris: Yeah, we always get a great response from the crowd when we perform that song. Jahan: Yeah, I would say Alive is the most popular song off our Play Hard EP, but some of the newer, unreleased stuff better represents our sound. Kris: That’s because it is more drum n bass focused, which is boss!

We know that your tour is coming to an end shortly; so what is your craziest tour story thus far?

Jahan: Oh God! We have way too many! They are all extremely embarrassing! I guess it just depends on who we want to embarrass. Yasmine: Who should we embarrass? Hmm… I think the Steve Angello story is the best. Jahan: All of stories revolve around Kris being the target. He is really easy to mess with because he never

says no to alcohol. Okay, so story time! So one night we were playing in Kansas City at Global Dance and we opened for Knife Party and Steve Angello. After the show, I went backstage and our manager Jake was already chilling with Steve. He introduced us all to Steve and for some reason we all clicked. I guess he told Steve to just get Kris really drunk.

Steve had no idea who Kris is but he had a giant bottle of Grey Goose that he kept pouring down Kris’ mouth. He just kept going; he was extremely persistent. I think he felt a connection with Kris and that was why. By the end of the night, Kris was just falling over; it was hilarious! We had to carry him to the trunk in front of Steve. It was hilarious!!

Yasmine: He drank an in-human amount of vodka that night! Like, no one should have survived that amount. It was really bad. Jahan: Now, we have this desire to get back at him now! We are coming for you Steve!

Do you prefer indoor shows or outdoor shows more? Why?

Yasmine & Kris: Indoor for sure! Jahan: I like outdoor festivals!

Yasmine: I think the sound is better and the vibe is better at indoor shows. When you feel like you are encompassed in a tent or room with all your friends and the lights. It is just an amazing feeling!

Is there a certain vibe you like to create when you perform?

Jahan: I think we are trying to create more melodic dance music. Kris: I mean we love to play music that makes people want to dance. Yasmine: It is called dance music for a reason! Kris: Yeah, we want the crowd to rage out with us so we try and create a vibe that allows the crowd to let loose and party! I mean the best music in the scene right now is the music that makes you want to have a good time. Rage! Party! Dance! Yasmine: I think our whole thing is based around what Kris just said. Our EP and tour was based around the idea, “Play Hard.” We want our fans to go really hard and rage! It’s all about the good time with us. Oh and getting sweaty! Jahan: We love EDM songs with vocals; I think a sexy feminine vocal over a sick beat creates a crazy vibe.
