Hardwell, Canadian Bus Tour

HARDWELL has absolutely exploded over the past year. Since storming onto the scene in 2010 as Tiesto’s protegé and collaborator in the smash hit Zero 76 (an homage to their shared hometown of Breda) Hardwell has been on an absolute tear, using his newfound fame to propel releases on his Revealed imprint, including his own anthems Spaceman and Cobra, and the Joey Suki collab Munster. These releases combined with an insane touring schedule and his ridiculously popular bilingual radio show/podcast “Hardwell on Air” which is listened to around the word, earned Hardwell a massive top 10 placement on this year’s DJ Mag top 100 list, landing at the coveted #6 spot. Quick to act on his heightened profile, Hardwell immediately started planning a world tour which sees him in Canada for a whopping 11 dates, starting in Ottawa on January 29th, and making his way west with stops in every major city before finishing up in Vancouver.

Victor Calderone at Uniun, Stereo

VICTOR Calderone is back in Canada for two stops in mid January, one of which will be his debut performance at Toronto’s newest Ink property, Uniun nightclub. In a continued flip-flop between commercial and underground artists, Uniun has started off strong though it is yet to identify with a recurring sound. January’s acts range all the way from underground champion Victor Calderone, to pop act Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas, with some electro house from Thomas Gold, John Dahlback and Nervo sprinkled in between. Victor’s second Canadian date in January will be at an institution that leaves no question about the atmosphere of the party. Stereo will be dark and loud, as it is every weekend for Montreal’s devout following of underground dance music lovers. Fresh off the release of his tech-house thumper Info The Void, Victor will be missing the two winter massives happening in TO and MTL, so make sure you catch him for a club set in your city!

TALENT: Victor Calderone, Manzone & Strong

5 Marten Hørger at Habitat, Calgary

BY K LEA

THINKING back to the best memories of summer 2012, it’s possible to pinpoint to an exact few moments. At the top of that list is one set from Motion Notion Festival. It was the best vibe, most fun to dance to, most smiles in the crowd… just such good tracks. That set belonged to Marten Hørger, from Stuttgart Germany. With a pleasant blend of party breaks, drum and bass, hip-hop and funky beats Marten seriously killed it, and owned that dancefloor. What better way to beat the coldest month of the year than to relive that super awesome summer moment? This January, on Thursday the 31, Marten Hørger will be bringing that summer magic to Habitat Living Sound. Marten Hørger is known to be a DJ’s DJ, and is a favourite of the most well known breaks acts in the world, including Krafty Kuts, Plump DJs and Stanton Warriors. Brought to us by Habitat residents the Bodywork crew, as well as Wolfcastle Agency, this show is the perfect way to round out January for Calgary party kids.

TALENT: Marten Horger, Crush le Muck, Donald Bump, K3V, Sonny Chiba, Gnarcotics
