Exceeding Expectations My grandkids used to comb their school report

cards for the Es signifying they had attained the coveted "exceeds expectations" rating in areas not assessed by letter grades. As they grew, Es turned into (we hoped) As and Bs, yet I don't think any of them lost the desire to exceed expectations. At Oklahoma Electric Cooperative (OEC), we

also strive for Es every single day. We don’t want to do only what you expect us to do—provide you with affordable, safe and reliable electric service. We want to go farther and do better, from providing superior member services to offering programs that help you save time and money. OEC hit a milestone this past December: we

exceeded 50,000 in-service meters. While this number doesn't have any significance on your bill or day to day operations, it is a signifier of health and status. Out of 840 distributuion co-ops in America, OEC is now among the largest 10 percent. OEC lineworkers provide the public face of

our mission to exceed expectations. Tey routinely work in rough weather and put in long hours. But they do it gladly, because they care about doing an exceptional job for you. Journeyman Power Lineman Brad Collins, a 33-year OEC veteran featured in the OEC People section (see page 12), is one such example.

And because we’re a cooperative, we have a

special responsibility to support the communities we serve and exceed expectations there, too. Tat means we aim to improve quality of life through programs like Operation Round Up® (ORU). OEC's ORU program celebrates 20 years of service this year. Patti Rogers, ORU coordinator for over a decade, tells us about all the wonderful accomplishments the OEC Foundation has been able to achieve thanks to the participation of OEC members like you. (See pages 4–7). Te OEC Foundation has gifted nearly $3.5 million back to our local communities. Providing opportunities for our youth to

exceed expectations has always been high on OEC's priority list. In addition to traditional scholarship programs like Youth Tour and Youth Leadership Summit (see pages 8–9), OEC, along with Touchstone Energy Cooperatives of Oklahoma and geothermal industry leaders, is introducing Go Go Geo Scholarship Video Challenge (see page 10). Tis opportunity extends to the school as well as the individual student. Whether it’s a power outage or energy audit, a

billing question or community event, we’re working hard to achieve those Es from you every day.
