IBM DEVELOPS INSTORE APP

IBM Research scientists have unveiled a first-of-a- kind augmented reality mobile shopping app

The app, being developed by IBM’s Research lab in Haifa, Israel, addresses the fact that instore shoppers don’t have access to gap between the wealth of product information available online. As a shopper pans the camera of their mobile device across a

shelf of products, the app reveals which products meet their pre- selected criteria and provides a same-day coupon to entice them to buy. IBM said the app can make it easier for retailers to understand

consumer likes and dislikes and offer related products. It could also make loyalty points and digital coupons more convenient for shoppers,

eliminating the need to search for discounts. www.research.ibm.com
