Weir BDK delivers valves package for Indian power plant
Weir BDK has secured a significant order to supply balance of plant
valves for a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) in a 2,500MW power plant in India.
The order for a package of valves includes Weir BDK gate, globe and check valves, along with parallel slide gate valves from the Isolation Valves business in the USA. Weir supported the customer
Weir BDK will produce gate, globe and check valves for the project
throughout a six-month quotation and technical qualification stage and was then awarded the order due to the reputation for quality products, competitive lead times and the ability to offer a package of engineered valves complemented by Weir BDK’s industrial valves.
Large pumps order for Senegal project
Weir Minerals Africa secured a significant pump order for the Grand Cote Mineral Sands project in Senegal, West Africa. Located north-east of Dakar, mining will be carried out by dredging from the sand dune with a wet concentration system and minerals separation facility. This will be done at a rate of 55 million tonnes per annum, and the mine has a life expectancy of 14 years with an estimated ore reserve of 751 million tonnes. The submission of the bid followed months of negotiations. Amongst the 15 pumps ordered is the largest mill circuit pump currently made by Weir Minerals, the 750MCR. The 750MCR pumps will be sourced from Chile, while the remainder of the pumps will be manufactured in South Africa. The Weir Minerals service centre in Ghana will be responsible for ensuring excellent aftermarket services.
The MCR range of pumps is fast gaining market acceptance in West Africa, as well as a reputation for the premium product in mill circuit duties. As the product continues to prove itself, there is no doubt that the installed reference base will grow at a rapid rate. The award has given Weir Minerals Africa the accolade of now also having the largest mill pump in the product portfolio installed and running in Africa.

win to date in Vietnam. The contract consists of flow control product to be delivered this month. The business is
seeking to build on this success with a new sales team deployed to develop new customers and markets to compliment the core business of existing customers in the region.
